ACT and Southern NSW were given a rare opportunity to claim a place in AFL through a partnership with AFL's newest team, Greater Western Sydney. Screencraft teamed up with Coordinate to produce the 'ACT 4 GWS' television commercial, which features Kevin Sheedy himself as the host.
5,000 people were needed to pledge $50 to secure the future of AFL in the ACT. In return, Greater Western Sydney had committed to play 10 games a year in Canberra at the Manuka Oval while wearing special Canberra based Jersey's as well as other community support.
The opportunity for the AFL community to join GWS has been described as the game's best and last chance to establish a meaningful presence in the region.
