Animated web series production
Australian Bureau of Statistics commissioned Screencraft to produce 6 animated short films, specifically targeted at younger Australians and to be distributed via the ABS’s YouTube channel prior to the 2011 Census. These GenY specific products took an irreverent approach utilising characters and vocabulary specific to the target market, Screencraft managed the creative development, including the character development and scripting. After voice casting, orchestrated ‘live voice over sessions’, where all the characters for each episode were recorded live in studio as a group – this allowed voice direction by the Screencraft team whilst ensuring the Voice Artists could ‘bounce off each other’ maximising the creative voice opportunities and an integrated and relevant finished track.
Upon completion of the voice over record sessions the animation was created and completed entirely inhouse, using characters developed inhouse meant we could deliver specific characters for the clients messages, including specific messages to multi cultural groups and age groups. The soundscape, including sound effects, voices and Foley atmospherics were mixed to reflect animation and bring a sense of real life to the final product.
