Developed by Lendlease, Sydney Place is a premier precinct featuring the Salesforce Tower and the vibrant George Street Plaza, designed by Sir David Adjaye. The plaza’s centerpiece is a soaring metal canopy by Indigenous artist Danny Boyd, which mimics a tree's natural dappled light to blend the environment into the city.

In telling the story of the canopy artwork, we conducted an extensive series of interviews with Danny - to understand his background, his body of work and ultimately the concept behind the canopy, which aims to incorporate the natural environment as seamlessly and beautifully as possible into the built environment, and produces a dappled light effect that mimics a tree. Lendlease were so pleased with the final product that they quickly commissioned us to tell the story of another of their public artworks at the precinct, designed by Louise Zhang.
